What we collect
Your email address and a hashed password, when you create an account. Passwords are stored only as a PBKDF2-SHA256 hash with a per-account salt — we never hold your password itself.
The website addresses you ask us to audit, and the audit results we produce for them.
Product usage events — page views, scans run, sign-ups, upgrades — recorded so we can see where the product is failing people and fix it. These records hold an event name, a timestamp, and (for signed-in actions) your account id. We do not record your IP address against your account.
A short-lived rate-limiting counter keyed to your network address, so one visitor cannot exhaust the free scanner. It is a counter, not a log of what you scanned.
What we do not collect
We do not place advertising or tracking cookies of our own. The only cookie we set is the session cookie that keeps you signed in.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with data brokers.
We never log in to your site, submit its forms, or read anything behind a password. We fetch pages exactly as an anonymous visitor would.
Third parties
Cloudflare hosts the application and its database.
Stripe processes payments. Card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and never reach our servers; we store only Stripe's customer and subscription identifiers.
Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — if you arrived from one of our ads, Meta's pixel may record that visit and, where enabled, we send Meta a server-side event so it can measure the ad. Email addresses included in those events are hashed (SHA-256) before they are sent. You can opt out of this in your Meta ad settings or with any tracker-blocking browser.
An email provider delivers your monitoring reports if you have enabled them.
How long we keep it
Account data and audit history are kept while your account is open. Ask us to delete your account and we remove your account record, your sites, and their audit history. Aggregate, non-identifying counts may remain in our usage statistics.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correction of it, or its deletion, at any time, by emailing the address below. If you are in the EEA or UK we rely on legitimate interest for product-usage measurement and on contract performance for everything needed to deliver the service.

What ClearSite is
ClearSite is an automated defect-detection and monitoring tool. It fetches the HTML and CSS a public web page returns, tests it against a set of machine-checkable WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA success criteria, and reports what it finds along with guidance on fixing it.
What ClearSite is not — please read this part
It is not a compliance certification. Automated testing of any kind can only detect a portion of the WCAG success criteria. Independent research consistently puts automated coverage at roughly a third. Criteria that depend on human judgement — whether alt text is meaningful, whether focus order is logical, whether captions are accurate — cannot be machine-tested.
It is not legal advice and does not create a solicitor/attorney-client relationship. We make no representation that using ClearSite will prevent, defend against, or resolve any claim, demand letter, or proceeding under the ADA, Section 508, the European Accessibility Act, EN 301 549, or any other law.
A clean report does not mean your site is accessible. It means our automated checks did not flag anything. Pair it with a manual audit conducted with assistive-technology users.
Using the scanner
Only submit websites you own or are authorised to test. We fetch each page once per audit, with a 15-second timeout, identifying our client as ClearSiteBot. Do not use the scanner to place load on infrastructure you do not control; we rate-limit and may suspend accounts that do.
Subscriptions, billing and cancellation
Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.
You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation stops future renewals; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply in your jurisdiction.
If ClearSite is materially not working for you, contact us within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it.
Your content and ours
You keep all rights to your websites and to the reports generated about them. You grant us permission to fetch and analyse the pages you submit, for the purpose of producing those reports. We keep ownership of the ClearSite software, rule set and interface.
Availability and liability
The service is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and accurate but do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
If we change these terms materially we will say so on this page and update the date above. Continuing to use ClearSite after a change means you accept it.
